What is an ESA letter?
An ESA letter is a letter from a licensed mental health provider. It says you have a mental health condition and that an emotional support animal helps you with it. Under the Fair Housing Act, it lets you ask your landlord to let your animal live with you.
How fast can I get my letter?
Your letter is usually ready within one business day after your evaluation. California is different: california law requires an established care relationship of at least 30 days and a clinical evaluation before an ESA letter.
Will my landlord have to accept it?
Most housing must make room for an emotional support animal under the Fair Housing Act. A few places are exempt, like some owner-occupied buildings with four or fewer units. A landlord can also say no if a specific animal is a danger or causes major damage.
How much does it cost?

Is this real?
Yes. A mental health provider licensed in your state looks at your answers and talks with you. We do not sell certificates or registry numbers. HUD says a certificate bought online is not enough on its own.
Can I fly with my emotional support animal?
Not as an emotional support animal. Since 2021, airlines do not have to accept them. Our letters are for housing.
What if my landlord still says no?
Ask them to put the reason in writing. If you think they broke the Fair Housing Act, you can file a complaint with HUD within one year. We do not give legal advice.
Do I need a new letter every year?
Many landlords ask for a letter from the past 12 months. When yours gets old, you can come back for a new evaluation.
