About ESA Right Away

We help people keep their emotional support animals at home. A licensed mental health provider does a real evaluation, and if an ESA is right for you, you get a letter you can give your landlord.

Why We Started

Too many people face a hard choice: give up the animal that helps them through the day, or give up the home they want. The law already protects them. The Fair Housing Act lets people with a mental health condition ask for an emotional support animal, even where pets are not allowed.

The hard part is getting a real letter. Some websites sell instant "certificates" to anyone who pays. HUD says a certificate bought online is not enough on its own, and landlords can turn it down. We built ESA Right Away to do it the right way.

How an Evaluation Works

You start with a short form about you, your pet and how you have been feeling. Then a licensed mental health provider reviews your answers and talks with you. They ask how your symptoms affect your daily life and how your animal helps.

Your provider decides if an emotional support animal is part of the right care for you. If yes, they write your letter, usually within one business day. If an ESA is not the right fit, your provider will tell you.

Our Providers

Every evaluation is done by a mental health professional licensed in your state, and your letter is signed by that provider.

We serve Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Utah and Wyoming. Each state has its own page with the details for renters there.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell certificates, ID cards or registry numbers.
  • We do not promise every person a letter. Your provider decides.
  • We do not write letters for flying. Airlines no longer have to accept emotional support animals.
  • We do not give legal advice. If you have a legal problem with a landlord, talk to a lawyer or a fair housing group.

Your Privacy

Your answers are private and protected. Read our Privacy Policy for the details.

Price

The evaluation is $150. Each extra pet is $100. See our Good Faith Estimate.
